SUCCESS IN SEPTEMBER: MONTHLY TRUCK OF THE YEAR SHORTLIST ANNOUNCED

Sep 26, 2017 0min read
The spring sun setting across their workhorses must be making Australian Isuzu owners extra proud of their trucks – the shortlist for Isuzu’s September Truck of the Year shortlist has yielded some of the most impassioned entries we’ve seen all year. Isuzu owners are putting their trucks to work in every application under the sun, and the vehicles in this month’s shortlist are just a tiny snapshot of the winning mixture of dependability and performance featured across the entire range of Isuzus. Because it was difficult to nail down a shortlist for September, we focused on the businesses, and some of their outstanding Isuzu workhorses that are doing the jobs that keep Australia running smoothly. If you think your Isuzu deserves a run in the competition, you can visit http://isuzu.com.au/news-media/truck-of-the-year between now and the end of November, attach a photo (at least 1MB in size) of your beautiful machine and fill out the webform. From the monthly shortlists, two winners will each receive a $250 Isuzu merchandise pack of their choice and go into the running for the $6,000 grand prize for 2017. Congratulations to GEOGRAPHE LIQUID WASTE and SCOTT LEEDEN on being selected as the two monthly winners for September 2017. GEOGRAPHE LIQUID WASTE Geographe Liquid Waste’s Damian Vallance says his company does real-life work of Isuzu brand ambassador Shane Jacobson’s most famous character, Kenny. Damian said they approached their work with Kenny’s sense of humour. SCOTT LEEDEN It’s easy to tell Scott Leeden loves his FSD 700 and horse trailer. When riding in a beautifully decked out trailer with lights and swish decals – that he added himself – Scott’s horses are some of the luckiest in the industry. “I love the air ride suspension,” Scott said. “It delivers a soft ride for the horses and makes the trip from Melbourne to Sydney easy, comfortable and safe.” SAND ‘N’ SOIL Keith Hay-Smith’s a man of few words, which is why his highly praised NLR 55-150 Tipper holds a special place in this list. With some flashy signwriting – including some impressive advertising use of the tipper body – Keith believes his NLR is much more than just a work vehicle. “We choose it over the ute,” Keith said. “It’s a runabout – but it’s always a comfortable drive.”   METRO PLUMBING SOLUTIONS Guy Boyd of Metro Plumbing Solutions says his Isuzu NNR 45-150 CREW is the perfect vehicle to transport all his equipment. Guy said the company’s Isuzu goes “day and night, rain, hail and shine” – which comes in handy when dealing with the Victorian capital’s famously weird (four seasons in a day), weather patterns. LEWISDEVEL CONSTRUCTIONS Peter Lewis always wanted a truck, in fact since he was a boy, it was all he dreamt about. After working his fingers to the bone, he finally got what he desired most – an NLR 45-150 Traypack. He calls it his “dream truck”, and with good reason. Nowadays, Peter can “do any job and never have to worry about the payload”. DAVID ROBINSON David’s classic Truck of the Year entry ticks all the boxes. In his photo, David’s truck is tackling a lake with no issues and in his description…well, read it for yourself. “Firstly it’s an FTS,” David says. “Secondly, it’s taken us and our kids to the best and most remote places in the country in comfort. It has 7 seats and 5 beds and everything else we need for rugged off-road travel and exploration.” RON & SALLY FENTON GENERAL ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS Ron Fenton, of Ron & Sally Fenton General Electrical Contractors says his Isuzu NPR Tradepack is the perfect vehicle for his small electrical contracting company. He says the truck has “more room than a kangaroo’s outhouse” and embodies everything that a reliable workhorse truck should be.
