Truck of the Year

Since its conception 25 years ago, our Truck of the Year competition has brought the trucking community together, celebrating life on the road and the trucks that drive Australia forward.

It’s in tough situations like today – with half the country facing strict COVID-19 restrictions – that we really appreciate the good times, great trucks and incredible people involved in the business of providing essential services across the land.

So, to all our readers, keep on trucking!

We also know that a bit of healthy competition is soup for the soul, so let’s now look at this month’s entries.

With great pleasure we announce July’s monthly winner is… Domenic Lentini from DL Plumbing Projects and his NPR 45-155 Tradepack!

Well done Domenic, and thanks for entering the competition. We’ll make sure it’s the best two minutes you’ve ever spent online.

Our monthly winners receive a merchandise gift pack up to $300 RRP value and also go in the running to win a $1,000 prize for their Isuzu truck series (N/F/FX & FY and Giga).

From there, all roads lead to the Grand Prize draw for a $6,000 Visa cash card.

Space, storage, payload, power, the car-licence rated NPR 45-155 Tradepack is bringing it all for Domenic Lentini and his plumbing business DL Plumbing Projects in Sydney. “It’s a beast of a plumber’s truck,” crows Domenic. “I love everything about it… and I should have purchased one a long time ago…” Here’s no more regrets, Domenic – brought to you by Isuzu.

“I can carry all my essentials to every job, meaning I always have everything I need – with plenty of space to spare.” Efficiency is the motto of Enhanced Plumbing… and it also happens to be the best thing about his brand-new NPR 75-190, says Andrew McLean. Looking clean, smart and ready to tackle a big day, this chrome-decked beauty is helping Andrew save time by cutting out unnecessary trips to and from suppliers and keeping costs down for the business.

Delivering first class service and products to customers in Toowoomba, Queensland, comes this NPR 45-155 Premium Tradepack with AMT working for True Stone Bench Tops. With a hard-to-miss quicksilver cab, genuine bulbar and 3.45 metre tray, the Premium Tradepack has great road presence, while being a practical choice for transporting awkward material. Driver Chengquan Ye has only good things to say about the truck’s performance, noting it’s smooth and easy to drive.

Ian Peterson proves that it’s never too late to pick up your favourite Isuzu truck. He’s just got his hands on this classic NLR 200 (NLR 45-150) with van body to support the business. “I started working with the old girl a few months ago, it took a while to get used to managing the gears but she’s now running like a dream for me,” Ian says happily.

Featuring an 8.1 metre tray length and HIAB X-Hiduo 298 loader crane, this heavy-duty FYJ 300-350 is working up a storm with Select Power Services in South Australia. Undertaking industrial electrical works to underground residential developments, the truck gives the team the ability to work on unsealed roads and construction sites, while providing a comfortable drive. “It’s got exceptional payload capacity and is more than capable of long haul runs as well as short trips. We can unload our equipment with ease and confidence,” says owner Keith Ward.
