UP IN LIGHTS FOR ISUZU 50TH ANNIVERSARY BILLBOARD COMPETITION

Six lucky trade businesses have their names plastered across giant billboards in their capital city to celebrate Isuzu Trucks 50th anniversary of operation in Australia.   T

he businesses – all Isuzu truck owners -- are the winners of the Isuzu 50th Anniversary Billboard Competition.  

As well as the week-long billboard exposure, each winner will receive a $1,000 fuel voucher. 

To enter the competition, Isuzu owners had to come up with a slogan for their billboard celebrating the reliability of Isuzu Trucks, by describing how Isuzu Trucks has helped them in their business and upload an image of their Isuzu truck.  

“The winners were chosen for the creativity and originality of their entry,” Isuzu Australia Limited’s Head of Marketing and Customer Experience John Walker said.  

IMPRESSIVE ENTRIES 

“The judges were incredibly impressed by the quality of entries and the amazing ways Isuzu trucks are put to work throughout Australia.  

“The billboard winners include a mobile welding business, a skip hire outfit and a range of tradies, which shows just how many applications Isuzu products can be used for,” he said.  

To prepare for their billboard debut, each winning business had a professional photoshoot to capture their stunning trucks and cheeky slogans.

QUEENSLAND – GREEN SKIPS 

Adam, Angela and Will Pearson from Green Skips

“We're celebrating reliability by getting skip bins to builders”- Adam Pearson  Green Skips is a family business based in the beautiful Gold Coast hinterland, providing skip bin hire throughout the Scenic Rim, Logan and Brisbane.  

The company provides skips for general domestic waste, construction waste and green waste, with skip sizes ranging from 1.5 cubic metres to 12 cubic metres.  

The truck Adam chose from his fleet to be featured on the billboard is a sturdy 2018 FSR 140-260 with an eight tonne Westrans skip loader. 

“We’re pretty pumped,” owner Adam said of the billboard competition win.

TASMANIA - OUTTASITE MOBILE WELDING 

Brendon, Oscar and Amanda Wass from Outtasite Mobile Welding 

“We're celebrating reliability by getting Wassy to weld it.”  Outtasite Mobile Welding, based in Margate, about 15 minutes outside the Tasmanian capital of Hobart, specialises in onsite earthmoving repairs.  

Everyone in the family-owned business is thrilled with their billboard win, and how good their 2021 NPS 75-155 looks in the photo, with its custom tray made for a welder by a welder.  

“Hopefully we’ll get some work out of the billboard,” Amanda said.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA – ROBERT LAWRENCE TOOHEY SOLE TRADER 

Robert Lawrence Toohey Sole Trader 

“We're celebrating reliability by getting Rob to save the day” 

Perth-based Robert Toohey and his one-year-old Isuzu NLR 45-150 Traypack are a mobile hot water high pressure cleaning service that can clean wheelie bins, commercial bins, oil stains and graffiti. Rob bought the Isuzu truck to replace the ute-and-trailer setup he was previously working with, and he said the difference is “night and day,” because he doesn’t have to fuss around with the trailer anymore.  

The truck can easily cart Rob’s two-tonne water tank and his 300 kg hot water high pressure cleaning unit.   “It’s made a huge difference,” he said.

David Bousleiman from DB Built Constructions 

“We're celebrating reliability by getting Davo to wake up on time.”  DB Built Constructions’ NPR Tradepack has done 20,000 kms in the seven months since it was purchased, with David regularly buzzing up and down to Newcastle and Woolongong from his Sydney base.  

“It’s definitely been putting in the yards,” David said.   “It’s probably the most practical vehicle I’ve ever owned.”

Adrian Krollig from Trubild Pty Ltd 

“We’re celebrating reliability by getting from A to B every time.” 

Trubild owner Adrian Krollig went out on a limb two years ago and bought a NLR 45-150 from North East Isuzu in Adelaide with a little concrete pump on the back.  

Adrian said he chose the truck because it could be driven on a car license, and was small enough to fit down residential driveways where Trubild’s work often takes it.  

The business provides two main services: brickwork and stonework, mainly for renovation of heritage buildings; and weighbridge civil construction.  

“I was flabbergasted to find out that such a simple slogan would catch the eye of the judges and win,” Adrian said.

VICTORIA - FOURTH PHASE ELECTRICS 

Casey Landman from Fourth Phase Electrics 

“We're celebrating reliability by getting power to the people.” 

Fourth Phase Electrics is a 24-hour electrician based in Melbourne’s east, with four staff on hand. 

Owner, Casey, said he was shocked when he won the competition with his brand-new NPR 55-155 SWB, which only has 2,000 km on the clock.  

“I feel very lucky, it was pretty unexpected.” 

As for the new truck, Casey said it’s “awesome, I love it.”

Mr Walker said the billboard competition was one way Isuzu could share its success with its loyal customers.   “Reputations ride on us, and we value the trust our customers place in our brand and staying with Isuzu over the past 50 years,” he said.
