THRILLING OPPORTUNITY FOR TOP-RATE ISUZU TECHS

Jun 17, 2022 0min read
Five Isuzu truck technicians have won the opportunity to get down and dirty with a V8 Supercar pit crew as part of the exciting partnership between Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) and the Walkinshaw Andretti United racing team. The Isuzu technicians will work alongside the official pit crew on race days around Australia as part of IAL’s sponsorship of the Walkinshaw Andretti United Racing team for this year’s Repco Supercars Championship. “We couldn’t be happier to be helping our team to expand their skill sets and see what it’s like at the very top of the game”, said Brett Stewart, IAL’s National Service Manager. Motor sport technicians are highly respected in their field for their reactions, speed, skill and unflappable nature in the face of extreme time pressures. It’s a fast-paced and exciting job done by the best of the best, and Mr Stewart said he believed Isuzu technicians could surprise and impress the pit crews. “I may be biased, but I think we have some of the best service departments and technicians in the country if not the world,” he said. “I’m glad that our people are getting the opportunities to show what they’re capable of and what they’re able to do so with the wide range of skills they’ve built-up at Isuzu.” The five winning technicians were chosen from over 40 nominations from Isuzu dealerships around Australia. “We’re so delighted to see this experience come to fruition,” said John Walker, Head of Marketing and Customer Experience at Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL). “V8 supercars is the pinnacle of Australian motorsports, and it should be an absolutely unforgettable event for our Isuzu technicians. We’re really happy that they’re getting this opportunity. “They all work extremely hard year-round, so they deserve something huge like this.” Support for the program from the dealership Service Managers has been fantastic, and the nominations were of a tremendous quality, which made selecting the top five very difficult for the judges. After a tough process, Isuzu are delighted to announce the following candidates and the dealerships they hail from.
  • David Clarke, Gilbert and Roach Huntingwood
  • Jackson Cooper, Sunshine Coast Isuzu
  • Trae Pollard, Southwest Isuzu
  • Josh Mortimer, Northern Rivers Isuzu
  • Cooper Bullin, Road Runner Mechanical Services
Isuzu technicians have long been recognised in the industry as a cut above, and initiatives like this show some of the benefits of working in the Isuzu Truck Dealer Network. There are plenty of opportunities within Isuzu for technicians to grow their skill sets and the brand has many interesting and exciting programs on offer. As well as the pit crew experience, there is also the Isuzu Australia National Technical skills competition and the Isuzu World Technical Competition, commonly referred to as the I-1 Grand Prix (I-1 GP). This is a celebration of technical talent where we see  Isuzu technicians testing their skills on the global stage. In head-to-head technical challenges, technicians compete against one another, with the very best being chosen to represent Australia at the I-1GP finals in Japan. With the many career development pathways and personal education courses available to employees, Isuzu has proven itself a dynamic and exciting place to work for many young trades people. A job as a technician can open many doors and is by no means a final stop. Building skills is a lifelong pursuit and Isuzu is dedicated to investing in their technicians today so that they can lead in the future.
