Truck of the Year: November 2024
The days are getting longer, with balmy weather and the sound of festivities now in the air.
For truck drivers, the end of the year can mean long shifts behind the wheel, meeting the holiday demand and wrapping up jobs before a much-needed break.
With this in mind, let's take a moment to think of Australia's hardworking truckies and their dedication to the job!
At the Truck of the Year competition, we plan to celebrate the way we know best with the final monthly round of the competition for 2024.
This month we were treated to some truly epic truck builds, including a customised sparky truck, a personalised plumber’s rig, and an Isuzu unit that looks like it could be at home on a Mad Max set.
This month, we also saw a number of crew cab trucks displaying the people-moving power of an Isuzu.
November Truck of the Month
Without further ado, we reveal the final monthly winner for 2024...
Congratulations to Envirocrush in Sydney, who entered an unforgettable FRR 110-260!
Envirocrush wins the monthly prize for November, an Isuzu merchandise pack valued at over $300 RRP, and is now in the running to win the F Series prize.
Envirocrush
While this spectacular truck might look like a giant Battle Bot, don't let appearances deceive you. Envirocrush’s FRR 110-260 is a serious tool that’s making waves in Sydney's waste industry.
General Manager Elias Elias is keen to showcase how this unique truck, with its spiked roller to crush waste, is helping clients save time, money, and space in their hook-lift skip bins.
“Our Isuzu FRR is the first of its kind in Australia,” said Elias.
“The Envirocrush truck looks like it's from a movie, according to the comments we receive from our community.”
RAS General Maintenance
Reg Spiers from Kalgoorlie in Western Australia shows how his NPR 45-150 Traypack is a multipurpose vehicle suitable for a hard day's work at RAS General Maintenance.
It also tows the camper on the weekend!
“It’s set up to carry all our tools and fishing gear to be self-sufficient around Australia, with plenty of payload for the nine toolboxes and generator set,” says Reg.
Renovatrix
The Renovatrix NPR 45-150 Crew has ample seating to get the team to work, along with plenty of space in the tray for tools and equipment.
Operating from Burnie in Tasmania, Jared Smith shared his thoughts on his smartly outfitted renovator's truck.
“It’s the perfect size to carry everything we need from timber framework to plastering to tiling.
“We do it all and can carry it all, thanks to our NPR.”
DW Property Maintenance
Hailing from the Top End, Doug Waters from DW Property Maintenance is proud as punch of his NPR 45-150 Traypack Crew.
“I chose Isuzu for the reliability,” Doug explains.
“My NPR is big enough to be comfortable but nimble enough to get around town with ease. I find it easy to drive, and I love the large cab, which has plenty of storage space.”
King and Sons Plumbing
Tahi Hussein from Niddrie in Victoria has entered this one-of-a-kind NPR 45-150 with a short wheelbase that is fully equipped to tackle any task for King and Sons Plumbing.
The possibilities for Isuzu’s N Series to be customised for just about any work are endless, which is one of the reasons they are so popular with Australia's tradies.
“Our Isuzu has had custom work,” says Tahi.
Powered Innovations
This specialised NPR 65-190 is a mobile workshop on wheels for Martin Cordina and the Powered Innovations crew.
Operating out of Wetherill Park in New South Wales, Martin proves the power of working smarter by making sure his Isuzu is fully equipped to tackle a day out on the job.
“My Isuzu NPR 65-190 includes a 995 kg Hiab crane installed out the back,” details Martin.
“It also houses a generator set and lithium batteries to run my fridge, freezer, microwave, and coffee machine. We are all set for a hard day's work!”
