Truck of the Year July 2024

Aug 29, 2024 4min read

July was a month full of blustery winds and chilly rain for most of the country. While many of us were rugged up indoors, hardworking truckies and businesses were out on the roads keeping Australia moving.

Over at our Truck of the Year competition the trucks were coming in hot with top-notch entries from a wide range of industries and applications.

This month we were treated to the likes of beehive haulers, hay runners, removalists, construction and earthmovers, and some tremendous tradies all with their hardworking trucks in action.

July: Truck of the Month

The wheels keep turning as we roll into the second half of the year, so without further ado… congratulations to Richard Collins and Collins Honey with their impressive FYJ 300-350 which is used for transporting beehives!

Richard and Collins Honey have scored July’s Truck of the Month and an Isuzu merchandise pack valued at over $300 RRP.

They are now in the running to take out the FY Series prize at the end of the year and will have a chance at the Grand Prize for 2024—a $6,000 Visa gift card.

Collins Honey

Check out the buzz on the Collins Honey hive hauler!

Working out of Bendigo in Victoria, Richard Collins has entered this un-bee-lievable FYJ 300-350 which is used for transporting beehives.

“With the Hive Hauler, we’re not just moving hives; we’re setting a new standard in beekeeping logistics,” Richard stated with pride.

“The FYJ's twin steer axle allows the Avant loader to be positioned at the front, enhancing manoeuvrability and efficiency.

“Safety is paramount when transporting beehives—mesh curtains ensure the safety of our precious bees as well as the public, as we journey to our next destination while keeping airflow circulating around the hives.”

JP Concrete Constructions

Zipping around Pakenham in Victoria, this NQR 87-190 is getting the job done for JP Concrete Constructions.

Equipped with toolboxes, ladders and timber racks and with tray space to spare, Jason Parseghian has one smart tradie set-up.

“My truck is the hamburger with the lot!” says Jason with glee.

Brisbane Secure Bollards

“My Isuzu is a one-of-a-kind service truck.”

Proud as punch, Ty Burley puts his Isuzu to use at Brisbane Secure Bollards, installing bollards for clients in and around Logan and Southeast Queensland.

There is plenty of storage space and ladder racks to secure loads, as well as the capacity to safely transport bollards to clients’ job sites.

Stace Livestock Transport

Running hay one day, transporting livestock the next—no two days are the same for this FXY 240-350 agriculture truck which is doing the rounds from Forbes in New South Wales for Ron Stace.

“Reliable and versatile, from stock carting to hay carting,” said Ron.

Bolt's Earthmoving

Adam Bolt entered his brand new FXZ 240-350 Auto beavertail into the competition this month, displaying its capabilities as a heavy hauler.

With an on-road presence that can’t be ignored, Adam’s new truck is now hard at work transporting capital equipment for Bolt's Earthmoving which operates out of Loganholme, Queensland.

Sam's Painting and Maintenance

Mmm... smell that new truck smell! Sam Bunn from Toowoomba, Queensland has entered his versatile NPR 45-155 Tradepack that he puts to work for business Sam's Painting and Maintenance.

“It drives well. Not too big, not too small,” says Sam.

“The NPR Tradepack holds my planks, trestles, spray gun and paint. It's a great addition to my business!”

C.Y. Mini Digger Services

Cy Bettjeman is very proud of an impressive FXY 240-350 that has improved business efficiencies for C. Y. Mini Digger Services, operating from Brunswick in Western Australia.

“The FXY 240-350 is an integral part of our business for transporting both product and our machinery, with its fully custom-built tipper body and integrated ramps below the tipper tray for easy storage,” said Cy.

“It's improved the way our business operates and is very comfortable to drive with the (Hendrickson) airbag suspension and plenty of horsepower.

“The truck performs just as good as it looks and is just as reliable as the many other Isuzus that we have used over the 50 years of our business.”
