Truck of the Year: August 2024

Sep 13, 2024 4min read

While many of us were glued to the telly cheering on the athletes at the Paris Olympics during August (and who will ever forget that breakdancing event), Isuzu’s judging panel had their eyes on the gold medal entries coming through the Truck of the Year competition.

Australia performed admirably at the games, finishing fourth behind the USA, China, and Japan—but there is only one great Aussie truck that can reign supreme in our competition each month.

With entries as steaming hot as the record-breaking temperatures in the northern states of the country, this month’s competition is not one to be missed.

August: Truck of the Month

Trucks used for earthworks, last mile freight, furniture removals and mobile trades… we saw it all.

A huge congratulations to Jason Spiteri and Zozo’s Earthworx with their winner, an Isuzu FRR 600! Jason and Zozo’s Earthworx scored August’s Truck of the Month, and an Isuzu merchandise pack valued at over $300 RRP.

They are now in the running to take out the F Series prize at the end of the year and will have a chance at the Grand Prize for 2024, a $6,000 Visa gift card.

Zozo's Earthworx

There is nothing better than the feeling of building something with your own hands and seeing your hard work pay off.

Jason Spiteri from Dean Park in New South Wales entered an Isuzu FRR 600 (FRR 110-240), which he says he rebuilt from scratch to transport earthmoving capital equipment for Zozo's Earthworx.

“What makes our truck special to us is that the whole thing was custom built by myself in my backyard,” said Jason.

“I put a lot of hard work and labour into transforming it from the Pantech that it was when I first bought it.”

Luke's Local Freight

Luke Barber, Director of Luke’s Local Freight hailing from Port Macquarie in New South Wales, has entered his pride and joy: the NPR 300 (NPR 60/45-190).

Luke only has compliments for the truck which is the backbone of his business.

“My little NPR has been on every road in the area, multiple creek crossings, and is never bothered, no matter the terrain.

“It is an amazing truck. It never gets stuck and has plenty of power to move everything from furniture to whitegoods—if it fits out the back then this little rig will move it!”

Vorstrom Vacuum Trucks Australia

This matched set of FX Series vacuum trucks are ready to get down to business for Vorstrom Vacuum Trucks Australia.

Based out of Warwick in regional Queensland, Glenn Fry entered the FXY 240-350 Autos with custom-built vacuum tankers into the fray.

“Purpose built vacuum trucks, made to last with a tough-as-nails cab chassis,” nodded Glenn.

ArcPro Welding Pty Ltd

ArcPro Welding from Kingsthorpe in Queensland have entered a creatively outfitted NPS 75-155 Crew Cab truck, used as a service vehicle for their welding business.

Cory Hill let us know that this hardy Isuzu 4x4 unit operates as transport and mobile workshop for AcrPro Welding, assisting them to offer customers the ultimate in reliability and service.

“The NPS Crew Cab's versatility is so handy in our line of work—as a mobile welding company we rely utterly on the reliability of our vehicles.

“The extra cab room enables us to deploy more skilled staff to emergency outages in the pipeline industry, with enough payload for all our gear.”
