ISUZU NEWS JULY 2017

Jul 27, 2017 0min read
As we pass the half-way point in one of the busiest years yet for Isuzu Trucks, we take a look at the biggest news stories so far this year.

BEST TRUCK SALES IN A DECADE

2017 has set a cracking pace with new truck sales - the Truck Industry Council (TIC), official tracker of truck market figures, recently announced that truck sales figures represented the highest first half results in over a decade. All market segments are buoyant, and we’ve seen a solid lift in both the light and heavy market segments. In June, Isuzu sold 986 new trucks, accounting for 25.4 per cent of the Australian truck market. The light market is particularly strong and our ever-widening Ready to Work range is hitting the right note with all shapes and sizes of business, particularly for operators trading up from light commercials who are looking for the quality and peace of mind these total package offerings provide.

I-1 GRAND PRIX ON THE HORIZON

Isuzu’s annual World Technical Competition – commonly known as the I-1 Grand Prix – is fast approaching. The I-1 pits the best Isuzu truck technicians worldwide against each other in a mechanical contest for honour and glory. The Australian qualifying stage takes place on August 1 at Isuzu’s head office in Port Melbourne. We’re looking to go one better than our fine second placing last year to the perennial favourites from Japan. For our Isuzu Truck customers – you can rest assured that the technicians that service your trucks at Isuzu dealers are world’s best.

TRUCK OF THE YEAR ATTRACTS OZ’S BEST RIGS

Each month, Isuzu’s 2017 Truck of the Year competition brings proud owners flocking to isuzu.com.au/news-media/truck-of-the-year to show off the pride and joy of their fleets and have their shot at winning the grand prize of a $6,000 Visa gift card. July has seen some impressive entries put up for contention, but there’s still time to submit your truck for a shot at one of the two monthly prize packs – Isuzu merchandise worth $250 and passage into the competition’s finals. So if you think your machine has what it takes to mix with the nation’s best, submit your entry now including a photo that is at least 1MB. A $6,000 gift card and ultimate bragging rights await! 28 YEARS AT THE TOP OF THE TREE

We kicked off 2017 with the news that Isuzu had bolstered its sales by a further 16 per cent at the end of 2016, securing the 28th consecutive year of market leadership. At the half way-point of the year, over 25 per cent* of all new trucks hitting the road in 2017 were Isuzus. We’re looking forward to continuing to find transport solutions for Australian business needs as we work hard through the remainder of 2017. * According to TIC Industry Report data

THE LIGHT TRUCK WITH THE HEAVY-DUTY CRED – THE ISUZU & MILWAUKEE SERVICEPACK COMPETITION

As part of the big push with our Ready to Work models, Isuzu partnered with heavy-duty tool specialists Milwaukee Tools to offer one of the biggest competitions in our history – the chance to win a Milwaukee branded Isuzu NLR 45-150 Premium Servicepack and $10,000 worth of Milwaukee power tools. Over 30,000 entries flooded in for the exciting competition, and Adelaide concreter Ryan Dolan was the lucky winner.

NEW DIGS

In April, we announced the construction of a new, state-of-the-art head office in the heart of Victoria’s western transport corridor, Truganina. The 21,000 square metre facility is expected to be completed by January 2018. Once finished, the modern new headquarters will consolidate all parts of Isuzu Trucks business in Australia under one roof, and will provide a great base for us to continue our efforts to provide the market-leading products and services for that most essential of industries – road transport.

NEW BOSS HELPS SET THE FUTURE DIRECTION

In April, we were pleased to announce the appointment of our new Managing Director and CEO, Ms Hiroko Yaguchi. Yaguchi-san has more than three decades experience with Isuzu, formerly working as the International Sales Group Leader at Southeast Asia Group between 2011 and 2014 before being appointed as General Manager at International Sales Dept. No. 4, Isuzu Motors Ltd.

TOP TRUCKS & TOP DEALERS

Recognising the key part our dealers play in our continued success is what the Isuzu Trucks Dealer of the Year awards is all about. In February, our top dealer for 2016 was announced with Dealer Principal Ian Deacon from Ballarat Isuzu winning the coveted Isuzu Trucks National Dealer of the Year. Paul Cooper of Winter & Taylor Isuzu was crowned the National Team Elite Sales Champion and Garry Francke and Craig Marquis took out the prestigious 2016 Isuzu Care Award.
