Isuzu And Cummins Join Forces To Explore Next Generation Powertrains

Isuzu Motors Limited, (Japan) has signed a letter of intent with Cummins Inc. (USA), a global leader in the design, manufacture, distribution and service of power solutions, to evaluate collaborative opportunities in the delivery of globally competitive products.

According to the statement issued by Isuzu Motors Ltd, the automotive industry is entering a period of “a once-in-a-century innovation” and the diversification of power sources, including electrification. Diesel engines remain a core focus for the company including both for commercial vehicles and industrial applications however Isuzu Motors Ltd is committed to exploring a diverse range of technologies including electrification and environmentally friendly next generation diesel power solutions. Both companies share a mutual interest in the development of future powertrain solutions and have agreed to explore potential opportunities over what is envisioned as a comprehensive, long-term partnership in this area. Through the collaboration, the global strength and know-how of both companies is expected to deliver enhanced competitiveness and engineering efficiency gains and the opportunity for greater mutual business growth. “We look forward to the potential benefits such a partnership represents for Isuzu globally and our customers here in Australia,” said Isuzu Australia Limited Director and CEO Phil Taylor.
